The Newark City Council consists of six members, including the Mayor; all elected at-large by Newark residents. 

Elections are held the first Saturday of May each year, with no more than three places scheduled for any single year.

City Council meetings are the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Newark Community Center located at 209 Hudson Street. 

Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Members of the public are welcome to attend all meetings.
